This car was originally sold to Leo Simpson of Port Arthur Texas and raced in the Texas
and Louisiana area under the name of the "Texas Rattler". In 1968 in was sold to an
individual in Houma Louisiana, then later to another individual in Houma, Louisiana,
both of whom continued to use the Texas Rattler door graphic and name. The car was subsequently sold to a racer in the Chicago area who apparently had no use for the Texas reference and soon painted the car blue and covered it with new lettering and graphics. The car was crashed in the middle 1980's when it caught fire, the brakes failed, and it went off
the end of the drag strip.
Since the early 1990's, the car had been sitting on the bare ground without a suspension
in northern Ohio, rusting away in the open weather. Found in the summer of 2005, the
Texas Rattler was finally brought to Colorado in November of 2006, where it has been
undergoing a complete rotisserie restoration to it's original condition utilizing the
correct, date coded 426 Super Stock Hemi motor and other correct factory components.
